When we were little, mom used to say to us:
” Study, my child, study. Study as much as you can, as hard as possible. Study, so that you won’t be needed to struggle, like we do”…
And, tired of our lack of care, she will always repeat, almost obsessive:
” If you have no knowledge… you have no gain”.
Years passed, and today we ”gained” something mostly because of mom, who once understood how important is to have knowledge and wisdom.
As the school year starts, Hope Rescue Centre plans to be the ”mom” who sends to school 54 very poor children. Some of them will do this for the first time in life. Others are older than usual. There are also children who almost dropped school. Life was unfair with all of them, and school had to go second, allowing work or taking care of the smaller brothers and sister to go first. Some live in improvised shacks, while others in abandoned buildings. Most of them will do homework at the light of a candle. Still, they are not complaining. All they want is the chance to be like all the other children.
When they’ve asked from us for a school backpack and school items, they proved they understood one thing: in order to have a life that is different than what they had so far, their only chance is… to have wisdom and knowledge.
What can you do? Get involved! Invest in the future of the society. ”Adopt” a child for this school year beginning and provide what minimum required for that (according with their age and grade). You will find them all in the table below. Choose one and let us know, to check that you will be dealing with that. If you have no idea what is required, every bookstore seller can tell you what the backpack should contain. Our priority should be the school backpack and the school items. Keep in mind, though, that, in order to go to school, a child will also need shoes, pants, a shirt, etc. If you can, please add some of these items in your bag!
